The CleftStone Works is a wholesale, importing distributor and manufacturer of natural stone tile surfaces used in residential and commercial construction. Our products are displayed in hundreds of showrooms where we encourage consumers to visit with a professional design sales representative to better understand the use, installation, and care of these natural stone products. Background

The CleftStone Works was founded in 1994 by Chuck Stiefvater and Peter Galgano. Today, our product line includes more than 35 different stones from Brazil, China, India, South Africa, and Turkey. We stock large quantities of natural-cleft and honed monochrome and multicolor slate, quartz, limestone, travertine and sandstone tiles and pavers in sizes up to 24x24, complemented by a selection of stone slab panels in thicknesses from 3/4" to 2". What makes CleftStone unique are the many customization options offered by our state-of-the-art stone production workshop in Pennsylvania. Our American Craftspeople fashion thousands of gorgeous stone tile and patterned wall and floor surfaces for discerning clients each year.

Our facility can custom-cut all sizes, shapes and patterns from 1x1 to 24x24, We have innovated useful Pattern and Accessory Guides which assists our design clients in producing a limitless number of stunning custom patterns and borders. We produce a wide variety of textures on each stone including Natural Cleft, Honed, Brushed, Tumbled, Antiqued and Cobbled, and we have very capable assembly and fabrication workshops. This allows for the creation of refined, unique designs that may be customized for each project with preferred patterns, module sizes, joint sizes, colors, stones, blends and finishes.

 

Dealer Support Program and Policies

We typically initiate and maintain our Dealer Showroom relationships by identifying and visiting established fine tile and stone wholesale, specification and retail showroom locations in our market areas, and providing Showroom Displays, Photo Books and Literature, product CD's and the like. We visit and contact showrooms by mail, and in person, to help keep our buisiness relationships strong and effective.

What are your standard policies for Dealer Showroom customers?

  • We supply business customers who maintain an account with us, and our management reviews the establishment of new accounts.
  • Our accounts supply a signed credit application and maintain good standing, and acknowledge our basic terms and conditions: We supply our products on an FOB warehouse, use constitutes acceptance and customer determines use basis. We have no special technical testing or information and can supply no special warrant of applicability beyond summarizing industry field experience and suggesting the specification of industry standard installation and care methods and materials. We have no specific responsibility for third-parties, transportation or handling, or misapplication. Of course commercially, we help our customers work through these type of questions and concerns everyday.
  • Our customers provide space in their Showrooms to display our products. We try to have good availability of accurate and space efficient sampling, supplemented by good quality photography and design guides that are respectful of the constraints of modern stone showrooms.
  • Our customers take time to help us display and maintain our products, and to take time to learn how to use our tools and sampling, and discuss product knowledge topics and technical considerations and the applicability of our stone products.
  • Our customers should feel welcome to contact us at anytime with questions and concerns. We'll do our best to be prepared for most of your requests, so that we can provide you with the information you need quickly and accurately.
 

Online Dealer Support Services and Policies

We are enhancing our current Dealer support efforts. We have introduced three new online services to provide access to lots of product photos and useful information about CleftStone. These tools will help us to maintain your showroom registration information, streamline contact, and help you maintain your sampling and product information. We improve your experience on our website and feature other remarkable communication tools such as Houzz, Facebook, YouTube, Pintrest and LinkedIn

  • CleftStone Registered Management Contact Newsletter provides business-to-business communications with your showroom as part of our enhanced dealer support effort. For instance, we will check with you periodically about your sampling, new products announcements, sizes, services and special offers.
  • CleftStone Designs Newsletter provides Dealer design and sales people with design inspiration, technical tips, product support, and sales training.
  • CleftStone Dealer Website provides our registered users with access to resources including our amazing Product Photo Gallery, which includes more than a thousand searchable, downloadable high-resolution product photos, and online versions of our iconic Product Photo Book, Cleftstone Pattern Guide and CleftStone Accessory Guide.

What are your standard policies for Online Dealer Support Services?

  • Our contact with you or your associates is made by us as part of our ongoing commercial relationships, and you may feel free to contact us to change your subscriptions any time. Please email us at support@cleftstoneworks.com, or call us at 610-683-9348, to share any questions, feedback or concerns you may have. We are happy to customize your subscriptions to better meet your needs.
  • We are only offering accounts to employees of registered Dealer Showrooms, and we personally review each registration. Unregistered vistors to our websites will receive a limited amount of branded, low resolution images, while registered showroom contacts and designers will receive full access to our extensive library of photos and tools.
  • We consider this to be a business-to-business communication channel where we can offer product knowledge, photography, technical support and sales training. We'll try to keep hyperbole to a minimum, while giving you maximum design access to our wonderful products and services.
  • We won't discuss anything over this channel that we wouldn't say in public to your people during a phone call or personal visit. For instance, we won't be communicating pricing, billing and account information via these lists.
  • We have not changed our customer base. We are not offering products for sale to the general public. As always, we direct end-users to our qualified CleftStone Dealer Showrooms. To make sure we are able to refer contacts to you, we encourage you to be sure you maintain your registration accurately with us, and contact us with any questions or concerns.
  • We consider your relationship with the CleftStone Works to be our mutual private commercial information.
    We will not share your business information with other entities.

CleftStone Registered Management Contact Newsletter

  1. What is the purpose of this list?

    With this subscription, list members may receive low-volume business-to-business contact via email, phone, mail or in-person from The CleftStone Works with news and information about our products and services. For instance, we may check with you periodically regarding your sampling, new product announcements, sizes, services and special offers. Public inquiries resulting from our website may be forwarded to these contacts.

    We won't bring up anything over this channel that we wouldn't say in public to your people during a phone call or personal visit. For instance, we won't be communicating any pricing, or billing and account information via this list. We expect this to be a fairly low-volume list, perhaps one or two mailings a month.

  2. How do you become registered or removed from this list?

    You may become a member of this list when one of our customer service or sales people has spoken with you or your company, and we have identified you as an owner, manager, senior design or sales staff representing your company as a CleftStone dealer showroom. Members will typically register using their work email address. CleftStone management will individually review and approve new accounts.

    You may change your registrations online or you may contact us at support@cleftstoneworks.com, or feel free to contact our office at 610-683-9348 and speak with any customer service person or CleftStone management. We are happy to assist you with any registration issues, website access, and any questions or concerns.

  3. Who should we use as a contact person for this list?

    We often have more than one registered dealer contact for each showroom, who could be any person at your showroom that is comfortable accepting or forwarding vendor business-to-business contact for your firm.

    We suggest that anyone who owns, manages, has responsibility or interest in sampling and merchandising programs, and even experienced design staff should feel free to register on this list, and you can adjust your settings at any time.

    Initially we will also subscribe you to our CleftStone Designs Newsletter, and will enroll you with a full access account on the CleftStone Dealer-only website.

  4. Do you have dedicated contacts for pricing, general management, leads, etc?

    At this point we do not, although we probably can handle requests such as this internally. We may in the future introduce special lists for pricing update contacts, sales training contacts, sales referral contacts or the like. If you have a special requirement, please be sure your pertinent contacts are registered with us, and contact us with your ideas. We expect this to be a low-volume list, and there should be of minimal concern about sensitive information being forwarded.

CleftStone Designs Newsletter

  1. What is the purpose of this list?

    The CleftStone Designs Newsletter is a blog and mailing list is dedicated to stone and tile design sales professionals who specify CleftStone products. With this subscription, list members will receive mailings discussing Design Features, Technical Tips and Product Training. These mailings will likely mirror Blog Posts, FAQs, Tech Pages, etc, posted on our website for easy future reference, and may include the following:

    • CleftStone Design Inspirations: A fun, short post, including a few high resolution photos and a few words about a topic in custom stone design. Posts will highlight a recent project, focus on a stone, size, shape, and/or finish, and will offer links to more photos, sampling and quoting. We hope to educate and inspire the designer, and help visualize the result.
    • CleftStone Technical Tips: More in-depth information about a technical topic such as Usage, Installation, and Simple Care and Maintenance of Stone Surfaces.
    • CleftStone Product Training and Tips: More in-depth information about a product knowledge topic such as working with our design manuals, shop tours, understanding variation, cleft and honed surfaces, how to specify color ranges, thickness issues, and customization options.

    Initially these newsletters will provide periodic information about our products and services. Over time, we hope to collect these articles into magazine-style design and training guides, and perhaps even produce a suite of product knowledge and training video.

  2. How do you become registered or removed from this list?

    One may become a member of this list when one of our customer service or sales people has spoken with you or your company, and we have identified you as an owner, manager, design, sales or support staff representing your company as a CleftStone dealer showroom.     If there are others in your company you would like to have access, please let us know. The only information we need is their name, email address and whether they would like management or design/sales access.

CleftStone Dealer Website

  1. What information will be available on CleftStone’s Dealer-Only Website?

    Our Dealer-only website will give you access to product resources such as our amazing library of product photography, an online version of our iconic Product Photo Book, and literature downloads including the Cleftstone Pattern Guide and CleftStone Accessory Guide. Other useful features, such as product specifications, our blog, frequently asked questions and technical tips are also available to browse.

  2. What access is available for product photos?

    It's said that a picture is worth a thousand words. What is the value of a thousand pictures? Most of you are familiar with our Product Photo Book, but you may not be aware that we have thousands of additional product images. Via our website our registered users are able to search and download these high-resolution images. This helps you access and visualize our entire range of product options, stones, sizes, patterns, finishes, accessories, and fabricated items.

  3. How can other design and sales staff access the Dealer Website?

    If there are others in your company whom you would like to have access to our website, please let us know. The only information we need is their name, email address and whether they would like management or design/sales access.
